Being an emergency physician in one of Melbourne’s busiest trauma centres comes at a cost. I am witness to heartbreaking human frailty and suffering in every shift. I also experience overwhelming kindness - from patients, families, and staff.

Working in emergency is a constant flux between tiny deaths and rebirth, understanding and misunderstanding, misinterpretation and lightening quick decisions.

Sometimes the stories linger - these are the ones I write down.
